European beds are measured in centimetres (cm) and come in a variety of widths and lengths which correspond approximately to the named sizes found in other ares of the world. For Northern European bed size (German, Dutch, Swedish etc) the standard length is generally 200cm, for Southern European bed sizes (French, Spanish, Italian etc) 180cm and 190cm beds are equally as common.

Single Bed Size

Standard Size: 90cm x 200cm (0.90m x 2.00m or 2'11" x 6'7")

There are many more variations in bed sizes across Europe than in other parts of the world with the 200cm x 90cm being the most common single bed size supplied by pan European retailers.

The extra long 210cm (6'7") and 220cm (6'11") beds are usually only found in the Germanic and Scandinavian countries.

Standard Size: 135cm x 200cm (1.35m x 2.00m or 4'5" x 6'7")

The length of this standard is dictated by the average height in the Northern European and Scandinavian countries which is around 1.80m (5'11") for men.

For double beds both 135cm (4'5") and 140cm (4'7") widths are fairly common.

• 135cm x 180cm (1.35m x 1.80m or 4'5" x 5'11")
• 135cm x 190cm (1.35m x 1.90m or 4'5" x 6'3")
• 135cm x 200cm (1.35m x 2.00m or 4'5" x 6'7")

• 140cm x 190cm (1.40m x 1.90m or 4'7" x 6'3")
• 140cm x 200cm (1.40m x 2.00m or 4'7" x 6'7")

Queen Bed Size

Standard Size: 160cm x 200cm (1.60m x 2.00m or 5'3" x 6'7")

The European 160cm width beds are the equivalent of the queen size across the rest of the world, a slightly narrower 150cm version is also commonly available.

• 150cm x 180cm (1.50m x 1.80m or 4'11" x 5'11")
• 150cm x 190cm (1.50m x 1.90m or 4'11" x 6'3")
• 150cm x 200cm (1.50m x 2.00m or 4'11" x 6'7")
• 160cm x 180cm (1.60m x 1.80m or 5'3" x 5'11")
• 160cm x 190cm (1.60m x 1.90m or 5'3" x 6'3")
• 160cm x 200cm (1.60m x 2.00m or 5'3" x 6'7")

King Bed Size

Standard Size: 180cm x 200cm (1.80m x 2.00m or 5'11" x 6'7")

European 180cm (5'11") width beds are equivalent to the King size beds in South America. 200cm width beds are closer to the North American, Australian and New Zealand King size beds.

• 180cm x 180cm (1.80m x 1.80m or 5'11" x 5'11")
• 180cm x 190cm (1.80m x 1.90m or 5'11" x 6'3")
• 180cm x 200cm (1.80m x 2.00m or 5'11" x 6'7")

Super King Size

Standard Size: 200cm x 200cm (2.00m x 2.00m or 6'7" x 6'7")

The largest beds generally available in Continental Europe are 200cm x 200cm however beds of length 210cm (2.10m or 6'11") and 220cm (2.20m or 7'3") are found in some Northern European countries.
